Program Overview & Certification Path

The Commercial Class A CDL license allows you to operate any combination of commercial vehicles with a Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) of 26,001 pounds or more, provided the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.

At KCD Training CDL Driving School, you practice on real commercial 10-speed manual semi-trucks with trailers to guarantee that your Texas CDL has no automatic transmission restriction ('E' Restriction), unlocking higher salary potential across the nation.

4-Phase Training Curriculum

Step 1: Complete 4 Written Tests in the DMV

Master and complete all 4 official Texas DPS / DMV written exams: 1. Commercial Rules (20 Questions), 2. General Knowledge (50 Questions), 3. Combination (20 Questions), and 4. Air Brakes (25 Questions).

Step 2: Pre-Inspection & Behind The Wheel (BTW)

1. Comprehensive Pre-Trip Inspection. 2. Behind-The-Wheel Training (BTW): Forward Stop, Straight-Line Backing, Forward Offset Tracking, and Reverse Offset Backing on our private yard.

Step 3: Road Driving & 10-Speed Shifting

Real-world highway and city street navigation, double-clutching mastery, progressive downshifting, defensive driving, wide turns, and bridge clearance. Plus, we practice the exact DPS exam road route with you before your final test.

Step 4: Official Texas DPS Skills Road Test

We schedule your official Texas DPS road exam and provide the exact same truck and trailer you trained on for test day.
